Mwansa Mwansa is a Winnipeg-based conductor, vocalist, and music educator. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Lethbridge, along with a diploma in Jazz Studies from Grant MacEwan University. Her career spans conducting, performance, musical theatre, and studio recording.

She conducted her first choir at 19, founding the University of Lethbridge Gospel Choir during her studies. From there, performing and teaching became her focus for a number of years. In those years, she toured Europe as co-vocalist with Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar, spent several seasons with New West Theatre in Lethbridge, and sang backing vocals for Terra Lightfoot. She also contributed to numerous recording projects and served as Vocal Director for the University of Lethbridge's production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. She came back to conducting later, leading Winnipeg's DayTrippers Choir before founding Roots in Harmony, where she now serves as Artistic Director.

Mwansa has taught voice, piano, and theory for more than 15 years, working with students of all ages on technique, confidence and musicianship. Whether she's teaching, conducting, or performing, it all comes back to one thing: music as a way to connect people and keep culture alive.

She was raised in Southern Alberta by a Liberian mother and a Zambian father. Growing up in choral communities gave her a sense of belonging; the Zambian folk songs her father sang gave her something else — a thread back to where her family came from. Roots in Harmony is where those two things meet: a space to celebrate Black musical traditions through performance, storytelling, and community.
