Roots in Harmony began with a simple but poweful vision: to create a choral space where Black music, identity, and community are at the centre—not the margins. Founded by music educator Mwansa Mwansa, the ensemble was born from a recognition of a gap in the choral world.

In 2024, that vision started small. Just six friends in a living room. What started as an intimate circle of voices has over doubled in size now in its second season, performing in community showcases across Winnipeg.

OUR STORY

As the group has grown, so has its sound, repertoire, and sense of purpose shaped by the voices and experiences of its members.

Today, Roots in Harmony continues to grow as a community where singers are invited to show up fully, learn deeply, and experience the joy of singing with one another.

Roots in Harmony is a proud member of Manitoba Choral Association.

OUR MISSION

To create intenional choral spaces where singers grow in artistry, connection, and confidence through collective voice.
